Exciting Collaboration With The National Trust

Eddingtons Ltd is delighted to announce its collaboration with the National Trust, Europe’s largest conservation charity in producing a stunning new range of toughened glass worktop protectors. This range is inspired by the work and passion of the Trust and designed to raise awareness of the work that goes into the conservation of open spaces and buildings in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The Collections
There are two collections of Worktop Protectors being launched in the first phase. The National Trusts’ iconic and easily recognisable oak leaf logo features on all items from the Nature Collection. This collection was commissioned with watercolour artist and nature enthusiast Louise Nisbet Fine Art BA (HONS). The illustrations feature countryside scenes, native flora and fauna, animals and insects reflecting the conservation work undertaken by the Trust and its’ team of rangers. The National Trust look after more than 250,000 hectares of countryside, 780 miles of coastline and hundreds of special places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Through sales generated from this collection, Eddington’s will contribute a minimum of £10,000 to the National Trust, to help support the work they do for future generations to enjoy. For everyone, for ever.

The Alfriston Clergy Collection features a repeat oak leaf pattern in four contemporary colours. The pattern was inspired by carvings found at Alfriston Clergy House the first property purchased by the National Trust for conservation, for the princely sum of £10.00!

All the collections in this National Trust range are produced at the Eddingtons’ Tuftop works, located in rural Berkshire. The Tuftop worktop protectors are made using special toughened glass which resists heat (up to 250degrees Celsius) and is ideal for hot pans or boiling kettles. The naturally cool surface can equally be used for rolling pastry, serving cakes, or prepping sandwiches or pastries. The worktop protectors also provide a hygienic cutting surface protecting counter tops from damage whilst complementing any kitchen or home with their unique designs.

For retailers the worktop protectors can be merchandised on an exclusive National Trust Branded display stand. All protectors are packaged in a kraft box sourced from an FSC™ accredited factory made with recycled materials. Each item in the Nature Collection has further information about the National Trust conservation projects or schemes that inspired each illustration.

Worktop protectors are expected to retail from £12.95 for small to £14.95 for the medium size.

Nature Collection
Bees are under threat. The National Trust are helping to protect them in the 250,000 hectares of countryside they look after with hives at many of their sites, mostly managed by their teams of gardeners and volunteers. National Trust are proactively leaving wild spaces for pollinators in odd nooks at their properties, mowing margins and cutting hedges later to allow plants to flower for longer, leaving insect nests undisturbed.

Alfriston Clergy Collection
The Alfriston Clergy Collection features a repeat oak leaf pattern in four contemporary tones of Sea, Sand, Water and Stone. The pattern was inspired by carvings found at Alfriston Clergy House the first property purchased by the National Trust for conservation, for the princely sum of £10.00!

Quotations
Michaela Davies, Brand Licensing Manager, National Trust; “Nature and heritage is at the heart of everything we do. We care for 500 places, including 250,000 hectares of countryside – from the peaks of Snowdonia and the Lake District, through to moorland, forests, and parkland. Accessing these spaces has meant so much to so many, particularly in the past year, and we are thrilled that this collection will generate income to help us continue to care for these special places for everyone for ever.”

“We’re also incredibly grateful for the support Eddington’s will bring to our conservation projects and are excited to see how the collaboration will develop over the coming years.’

Ben McCarthy, Head of Nature Conservation, National Trust; “Support like this helps us deliver our ambition for nature’s recovery. Through our conservation programmes we are restoring important wildlife habitat and threatened species at the places we care for and seeking more opportunity for everyone to experience the natural beauty in our care”

Roger Murphy MD of Eddingtons; “The National Trust is one of the most trusted and recognisable brands in the UK with a wonderful library of assets highlighting over 125 years of developing partnerships that benefit the natural environment and all of us in the UK forever”.

Faye Colclough Product Development Manager of Eddingtons; “It has been wonderful to collaborate with National Trust and promote the important message of preservation and conservation in the natural world and heritage buildings. About the National Trust
The National Trust is a conservation charity founded in 1895 by three people, Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Hardwicke Rawnsley who saw the importance of the nation’s heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy. Last year, the charity celebrated its 125th anniversary, and these values are still at the heart of everything it does. To help mark this significant moment in its history, the Trust has committed to achieving carbon net zero emissions by 2030, and establishing 20 million trees to help tackle climate change, creating green corridors for people and nature near towns and cities, running a year-long campaign to connect people with nature and continuing investment in arts and heritage. Ensuring everyone who visits feels welcome, and more people can access its places continues to be another key aspect of the charity’s work. Entirely independent of Government, the National Trust looks after more than 250,000 hectares of countryside, 780 miles of coastline and hundreds of special places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The National Trust receives more than 26.9 million visits each year to the places it cares for that have an entry fee, and an estimated 100million visits to the outdoor places looked after by the charity. Through sales generated from The National Trust Worktop Protectors a minimum of £10,000 will be given to the National Trust to help look after nature, beauty and history for everyone, forever.
